The Meaning of Rescue

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed, all nicely tucked up in my warm new bed,
I'd like to open my baggage, least I forget,
There is so much to carry and so much to forget.
Hmm….. there it is, right on the top,
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss and there by my leash hides Fear and Shame,
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave,
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me, but I wasn't good enough for they didn't want me,
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things and send me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage to never repack?
I pray that you do, I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage,
Will you still want me?

Mac is a 4 year old quiet Greyhound and he is a pure gentleman and he needs a home where there are children over the age of 10 and would love the company of a another dog and he loves to welcome people here to the rescue and he loves attention and he just loves chasing the rabbits around the fields here as well but never seems to catch one.

He is fully house and lead trained.

He is the same as all Greyhounds and loves to lie around doing nothing at all and just relaxes.

He is Neutered, Microchipped and Vaccinated.

Dolly is a very pretty Boxer/Staffie mix and she is only about 18 months old

She will sit when you ask her to and she is good with other dogs and loves children but be warned that she full of fun and loves galloping about and her re-call is pretty good and she loves her food and is very affectionate.

She is great with all other dogs and just loves to play with them and she loves to be cuddled and loves the fuss.

She will require some lead and house training.

She will have to be Muzzled and on a lead when out in public places according to the dog laws here in Ireland.

She is Spayed, Microchipped, Vaccinated and is now ready for her new home.

Toffie is a beautiful Lurcher type dog and she is only 6 months old, we are not sure of what breeds are in her as she has a lovely curl at the end of her tail and has they eyes of a Greyhound and also the head of a Lurcher but we are not sure about the rest of her body… lol

She has a perfect sweet nature, a bit unsure but she is young enough to leave the past behind her and get on with her new life with a loving family that will love and adore her as she will them.

She may require some lead training and house training.

Eddie is about 8 months old and he is a very unusual dog and we have no idea at all what breeds are in him BUT he is a fairly big boy (weighs in at 25 kg) with a lovely hairy muzzle, he has a very kind nature and he will need a loving home that will have the patience with him on account of him being so lively and maybe a few dog classes as well as he is a very strong dog and once he gets used to that there will be no problem bringing him out on the lead.

This dog is for you if you like big unusual dogs.

Sofie is a lovely Little brown 1 year old Terrier with the most gorgeous bat ears and she is a wee dotie of a dog, she loves to sleep on the bed and to lie on the couch so be warned this is a dog that loves human company as well as that of other dogs as she loves her toys and creature comforts.

She is Spayed, Microchipped and Vaccinated and is now ready for her new home.

Cottage Rescue is also a private home, and so we operate on an appointment only basis.

We do not have opening hours and any visit must be arranged with us first.

We do welcome you to come and meet the dog you are interested in and will arrange a time for this when you call us.

Hazel is a lovely blue brindle Female Greyhound and she is very quiet and she will be 3 years old next January so she is still a very young lady.

She is a very gentle dog around children and is also good with all dogs and even dogs half her size and really is a real beauty.

I will update more on her when I know more.

She is Microchipped and will be Spayed and Vaccinated and will then be ready for her new home.

Bran & Daisy are six years Collies types old and are brother and sister, this is what his family have to say about him.

They are wonderful dogs - friendly, loving and fun and great with children. They are in and out of the house during the day and great with children, even babies. We used to walk them daily in nearby fields but a recent ban on all dog walking there means they are not getting walked enough and we don't feel their quality of life is what it could be. We would love to see them re-homed somewhere they have enough space to run around so any countryside home or farm would be great. They are fully vaccinated and both are Neutered.

We are happy to transport them and will also supply their bowls and leads. They would be an asset to any home.

Rio is a lovely Blue Merle Collie Cross and this is what his lovely minder has to say about him.

"The family that adopted him as an eight week old puppy didn't realise the amount of space and stimulation a collie needs and so although he has been treated extremely well, he became too wound up and lively for them to handle in their small town home. However, although he's a bit giddy, he is exceptionally good with cats (just ask my Dylan who spent yesterday evening sharing his bed with Rio) and young children, having been reared with both. He is a lovely dog, both in looks and temperament and sadly, it's through no fault of his own that he is now in need of a new home.

Charlie is a very handsome Setter/Collie mix and he is only about 8 months old

He is great with all other dogs and just loves to play with them and he loves to be cuddled and loves the fuss once he gets to know you, he seems to have come from a home where he got beaten as he is still hand shy but that is easing with him now as he grows more confident every day, he has put on great weight, he is only slightly bigger than a Cocker Spaniel even though he looks bigger in the pic and somebody only half docked his tail but it but it does not take away from his beauty.

He came into the rescue via a lady that supposedly found him tied to a tree and RESCUED him and brought him here but I was not in a position to take him at the time but she then DUMPED him 1 mile from my house (shame on her) but thank you to the nice local man that cared for him until we could fit him in here.

What a puzzle life and people must be to this poor dog, but he is safe now and will get a lovely forever home.

He will require some lead and house training.

Bebie is a very pretty little Terrier and she is only 6 months old and my local Garda Station were very good to hold her for a couple of nights until we were able to place her here in the rescue.

She is great with all other dogs and just loves to play with them and she loves to be cuddled and loves the fuss.

She will make a great family pet and has a perfect little personality and is cute to go with it and she knows that as well.

Bertie was found at the side of the road and kind people took him in, he seems to be a Lab or Lab x and they think he is about 1 years old and has a great temperament and is not food aggressive and good with other dogs and children, so for the moment you will have to ring the finder on: 087 6349 595

Freya was found wandering and was got from the pound by a kind lady that asked us to take her in on account of her being so friendly and good with children, she loves to play with balls, this dog just loves life and everybody around her, she has a little issue with other dogs that I are working on, so we think that maybe she was attacked at some stage of her life and tends to defend herself before she needs to with other dogs.

The only description we can give of Freya is that she might be Terrier/Lab mix and she is 8-10 months old and she is knee high.

She will require some lead and house training.
