Cottage Rescue is also a private home, and so we operate on an appointment only basis.

We do not have opening hours and any visit must be arranged with us first.

We do welcome you to come and meet the dog you are interested in and will arrange a time for this when you call us.

Your garden has to be FULLY SECURE if you want to adopt one of our dogs.

It is not possible to answer all calls but please keep trying

The Meaning of Rescue

Now that I'm home, bathed, settled and fed, all nicely tucked up in my warm new bed,
I'd like to open my baggage, least I forget,
There is so much to carry and so much to forget.
Hmm….. there it is, right on the top,
Let's unpack Loneliness, Heartache and Loss and there by my leash hides Fear and Shame,
As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave,
I still have to unpack my baggage called Pain.
I loved them, the others, the ones who left me, but I wasn't good enough for they didn't want me,
Will you add to my baggage?
Will you help me unpack?
Or will you just look at my things and send me right back?
Do you have the time to help me unpack?
To put away my baggage to never repack?
I pray that you do, I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage,
Will you still want me?

Mac is a 3 year old quiet Greyhound and he is a pure gentleman. He needs a quiet home without young children and would love the company of a big gentle dog. He is nervous of people (especially men) so hides away. He is fully house trained but is not suitable with cats or small dogs. He needs a forever home and a peaceful life.

He is the same as all Greyhounds and loves to lie around doing nothing at all and just relaxes.

Willow is a very beautiful 6 month old Lurcher with a bit of Terrier in her.

She is still timid and will require a special home, she was rescued by a lovely couple that took pity on her and kept her for a week and she cried for the first few days with them and screamed if they came near her which tells us that she was very badly beaten.

She loves the company of other dogs and is beginning to understand that not all humans are such awful cruel creatures and she is beginning to play now and jumps up at me every time I go into the back yard and is beginning to love a game of chase.

I am very pleased to see how well she has come on in such a short time here in the rescue and to see her gaining such confidence every day that goes by is so rewarding.

She is a sweet little dog with a big character and very beautiful to boot.

She will make a smashing pet for somebody that will love her and she will be great with children over the age of 5 years.

Ryan is a lovely Japanese Spitz male and he is 7 years old, he is lead trained but will require some house training, he is a very cute boy and will suit any family that have children over the age of 8 years old and he is used to other dogs .

Please remember that this breed of dog is a very independent, high spirited intelligent and can be very alert little watchdogs, they can be very affectionate towards their families and they are very busy dogs and will require regular grooming.

Chipper is a smashing 8 month old Terrier type and he is good with other dogs he is very sweet and loveable and would suit any family, he will need some house and lead training

We really have no idea what is in him but he sure is a handsome chap and he has lovely colours in him.

Shelly is a 3 year old Shih Tzu who came into us in a horrific state and she is a lovely little dog who did not deserve this treatment by her owners. Read her story here

She is still a bit timid and will require a special home and she has come on great here and is enjoying the company of my own indoor dogs and she even loves playing with toys and sleeping on the couch.

Poor Shelly is totally blind in one eye but it seems to have no ill effect on her at all and her hearing is 100% perfect and I am very pleased to see how well she has come on in such a short time here in the rescue and to see her gaining such confidence with every day that goes by, it is so rewarding.

Shelly is having blood tests done in the next couple of weeks, so she is put on hold for a while until the results come back.
