Poor Lurcher has suffered all her short life. |

This poor Lurcher was brought to us by a very kind person that found her in a terrible state, she brought her to a vet on Sunday evening as she was very worried about her and she came to the rescue the day after 26/04/2009 She is a lovely little Lurcher of about a year old and is totally terrified of everybody and everything, she has open wounds on her body and has been attacked by dogs in the past which we can tell from all the old scaring she has, she also has mange and was very dehydrated and emaciated and is now on a special diet, but she is very young and she should blossom into a real beauty and we have decided to call her TWIGGY as we know she is going to be very beautiful in time to come. It is hard to imagine why people can be so cruel. |
Her poor thin body. The wound on her front elbow. The wound on her spine (see how thin she is) |
Update on TWIGGY 31st May 2009 |

We are so delighted with TWIGGY'S progress, see the difference of her in only a month, she has put on lots of weight and she done so very quickly and has been Spayed by Marta and she has her 1st Vax and is chipped as well and see how her awful wounds have healed up and she is now a very happy lass and I am delighted with her. Look how proud she stands now and so full of life! She has been homed in the UK. |

I got a call from a member of the public 22/05/2009 about this dog who she thought had been hit by a car, so I headed off to find this poor creature stuck half way down into a drain, so I got her out with the help of a couple of people. We thought at first that she had been burned but then we noticed that she had identical marks to both sides of her body, the poor dog was in an awful state and so sore and in great pain. An owner was located and eventually admitted that the dogs lead had been left on the hitch of a car while the owner was doing something but another person got into the car and drove down the avenue and up the road for about a mile not knowing that the dog was being tossed around the road behind the car until the collar eventually gave way and snapped and the dog got flung into a ditch. |
If you look closely at the above pics you will dark skin around her wounds which is bad bruising from her body hitting the road being flung about behind the car, the black on the wounds is tar from the road which we thought were burn marks, on her front leg you can see bone exposed and a vein, none of us can even try to imagine what pain she was in before she got medical treatment, She gave all weekend at the vets and then came out to us here in the rescue where she spent another few days until a decision had to be made to PTS her as she had bad damage done to her back legs and she was very sore, nervous and aggressive and had to be sedated every time the bandages were changed and would have had to have another operation later on her back legs and we felt she had done enough suffering. |

A lot of our time and energy is put into answering calls on reported Cruelty Cases. We allow the person reporting to remain anonymous although we do like to have a phone number in case we have trouble finding the location of the animals in question. We answer reports of cruelty to Dogs, Cats, Horses or Ponies and even Farm Animals. It is a very hard and often times sad job, but helping the animals in desperate situations can be very rewarding. We have a good few Cruelty cases on our Cruelty pages but we will WARN you that some of the pics can be quite GRAPHIC……… |

This poor Greyhound was found by a member f the public on the 15th October 2005. His ears had been hacked off as well as part of his scalp. The IGB came here and took DNA samples in hopes of finding the EVIL person/persons that done this to a poor innocent creature have never been found or prosecuted. |

We called this puppy ZIGGY and she was found on a busy round about with a very badly broken leg, she has since been homed and is very happy now in the UK. |

This wee 11 day old puppy came into us and was found abandoned by the side of the road and she is with Hannah and is being bottle fed. She was infested with Fleas when she came in. She is a very strong wee puppy and loves to get her surrogate Mum up in the middle of the night for a Bottle Feed. |
This little Lurcher puppy was only about 12 weeks old was brought to one of our Vets by kind members of the public who found her, she had to spend a night at the vets as she was totally dehydrated and was so emaciated. She has since gone to a lovely home in the UK. |
The above dog came in to us on Wednesday 26th Nov 2008 and she came from Dunboyne Pound and you can see that she had mange pretty bad but we have treated her for this and you can see from the different pics how she has got better and she has even lost the sad look in her eyes and she is now a very cheeky little imp and she wears a nice warm coat to keep her warm in this extremely cold weather. She went off to the UK at the end of Jan 2009 to her new home and has the company of another lovely Whippet. |

This lovely dog came in to us through another rescue down in Cork on the 20th Nov 2008 and he was left for 24 hours to die in a ditch after being in a RTA, so he is recovered here in the rescue and he had his lung drained twice by vets down in Cork, he done well here and was on kennel rest for 6 weeks to enable the Pelvis to heal. He has gone over to the UK to be homed. |

The poor Rough Collie pictured above came into us on Sunday 2nd Nov 2008 after a nice family found her in a very distressed state and held onto her for a couple of days until I had room here in the Rescue. She had wads of dirt and matted hair which made her very uncomfortable and her coat came off in one solid pelt. She had numerous pressure sores under the hair from the pulling of the matts on her poor skin. At least she is comfortable now although she is rather bald at the moment but her hair will grow back in time. Even though all her hair is gone you can still see what a pretty dog she is by her head and how sad that her tail had to be shaved as well. Lassie has been homed and will be well settled into her home in time for Santa to call and bring her lovely presents. |

Boxer with mange. |
Here are pics of a Boxer that came into me that had mange and was emaciated and you can see how he came on in two months here in rescue, he had gained lots of weight and you can notice how stronger he got. Amazing what a bit of food and a bit of T.L.C. can do. |

Update on Heidi. Heidi went off to live in the UK at the end of Jan 2009 and she was adopted by a lovely lady who came over with her friend to collect Heidi and bring her to her forever home by Ferry. Her new mom Pam took this pic of Heidi shortly after adopting her and re-named her Esme which I think is a lovely name. Don't you just love to see follow up pics of these poor creatures that come into us in such bad condition and with the sad look in their eyes as if they have given up on life and it is times like this that I know I have mad the best decision in my life by caring for animals. This what Rescue is all about! |

The poor creature. No hair to keep her warm. Tim-Tim |

I got a call about this poor goat on 27th Jan 2009, she had been abandoned on the side of the road in this state, thin, hungry, fairly weak and hardly any hair on her body. She is a very gentle goat and very much the lady as she did not want to jump into the van so I had to make a step for her to hop in and she had the company of a Greyhound LOL. We think she has some sort of mange and is being treated for it so fingers crossed that she will do fine and improve. It is terrible to think of her like that in all the very bad cold frosty weather we are having for weeks. There is another goat here in the rescue as well and he was delighted to see her coming in but for obvious reasons we have to keep them separated LOL Sadly on 05/02/2009 Nan-Nan took very ill and collapsed and we sadly had to get a vet out to her and she was humanly Put to Sleep, it was an awful shock to us as she was in great form at breakfast time. Rest in Peace Nan-Nan………. |

Greyhound hit with hammer on head to kill him! |

This Greyhound was found at the end of November 2008 near Cashel by a kind couple who found him collapsed at the side of the road in a very weak state, they brought him to a local Vet who very rudely told them to bring him to a camp site and dump him but the couple brought him to a vet in the next town who examined him and stitched him up and gave him an antibiotic injection and he came in to us the following day. I later rang Kieran (vet) to confirm what I had suspected that somebody had hit him on the head with a hammer which he confirmed! This is done to kill the dog by a sharp blow of a hammer to the head. We later named him Stanley after a company that make hammers and other tools. We have no idea who done this to him and his case is being investigated by the I.G.B. but we have heard nothing since they came to see him last November. We have no idea if he was dumped in this state near Cashel or if he ran away from the person who hit him with the hammer or how long he was wandering but he was very weak, dehydrated, hungry, disorientated and had bad infection in his wounds and a high temperature, he healed well and came on great in the rescue and he has since been homed. So SHAME on the person that done this to him and SHAME on the local vet that refused to give him the medical help he so much needed. |
Stitches to his head. He also had his leg ripped. Relaxing on the couch but sad. |
