Equine's for Homing

Cottage Rescue is also a private home, and so we operate on an appointment only basis.

We do not have opening hours and any visit must be arranged with us first.

We do welcome you to come and meet the Animal you are interested in and will arrange a time for this when you call us.

If you are interested in one of the Equines you see here please look over our  Requirements for Homing  and then call Hannah:   087 970 1919  to arrange a home visit.

Thank you so much for looking at the Animals we have available!

It is not possible to answer all calls but please keep trying

The Phone is monitored for emergencies...

Please understand that we are busy with our families,

private lives and also with the Animals here in the Rescue

And we try to answer the phone when we can.

The Horses' Prayer.

Feed me, give me water and care for me and when the day's work is done, give me shelter, a clean bed and a wide stall.

Talk to me, your voice often substitutes the reins for me.

Be good to me and I will serve you cheerfully and love you.

Don't jerk the reins and don't raise the whip.

Don't beat or kick me when I don't understand you, but rather give me time to understand you.

Don't consider it disobedience if I don't follow your commands.

Perhaps there is a problem with my saddle and bridle or hooves.

Check my teeth if I don't eat, maybe I have a toothache.
You know how that hurts.

Don't halter me too short and don't dock my tail... it's my only weapon against flies and mosquitoes.

And at the end, dear master, when I am no longer any use to you, don't let me go hungry or freeze and don't sell me.

Don't give me a master who slowly tortures me to death and lets me starve, but rather be merciful and take care of me, by letting me run and enjoy a warm pasture.

Let me request this of you and please don't regard it as disrespectful if I ask it in the name of Him who was born in a stable like me.

AMEN

Homing Requirements for our Equines

All our Horses and Ponies come into us as a result of Cruelty Checks that we do, there are only a few that come in to us direct through good owners that need to get the animal relocated due to different reasons.

We have no homing fees for these animals but it would be nice if you were to give a donation to the Rescue as Equines are fairly expensive to bring back to health.

We very rarely have any suitable for riding and most only go into Long term Foster homes to keep company with another Equine.

We will not accept wire fencing of any kind other than electric but have no problem with Electric fencing, post & rail and natural hedging.

We will not allow any breeding and Cottage Rescue will always have Ownership of the animal and YOU will only ever have the animal on a loan basis "Long Term Fostering"

If you are interested in one of our Horses, Please ring Hannah:   087 970 1919

Cottage Rescue is a Registered Charity: CHY 17184

       Updated: 11 March 2010

SPUD is RESERVED for a home.

Spud or Spudnick as we call him when he is cheeky is a 5 year old Bay Shetland Pony Stallion and is being Casterated next week and will be ready for his new home at the beginning of March.

Even though he is a Stallion at the moment he is still a very sweet natured little pony and he is a real character as most Shetlands are, he loves helping out in the mornings with the mucking out and feeding of the other horses and you will find him all about the yard pottering here and there, he is quite a nosey lad.

He is very easy to catch and handle and just loves attention and he will make a great companion for another Equine as he gets on great with other horses.

This wee fella is the best behaved of all Shetlands we have ever had here.

He will be Vaccinated, Microchipped and Pass Ported before he goes to his new home.

We will not accept wire fencing of any kind other than electric but have no problem with Electric fencing, post & rail and natural hedging.

                                       MAGGIE MAY

Maggie May is a 5 year old goat and is back with us and up for homing yet again, she is a very affectionate goat but like a lot of Goats likes to puck but lucky enough she has no horns but I am working on this bad habit and hope to have it under control before she goes to her new home which will have to have a secure garden/field with electric wire and a shelter and she would be quite happy with a small pony or another goat for company but she is not suitable for small children on account of her bold habit but really behind all that she is a cuddle monster when it suites her and she is very easy to catch, she will require her feet being paired often through the year.

Please ring Hannah: 087 970 1919 or Nikki: 087 6310 140 for further details.

                                    BONNIE LASS

Bonnie Lass is a lovely Bay Mare of 15 hands and she is 7-8 years old.

She is suitable for riding but by experienced rider's and not for a learner, she is a lovely mover and has lovely manners.

She is a very beautiful but lively horse and she may even be suitable for jumping but I would like to give her maybe a month or two months rest before getting her shod and ridden, she has no problems that we have noticed with other horses.

All you have to do is go into the field and call her name and she will trot down to you, you can put a head collar on her no problem and she has no problems with tack being put on either, she will have to have a rug on her until the days get warmer as she was clipped before coming into us.

All in all she is a smashing horse and is easy to catch, shoe, load and box.

She will be Vaccinated, Microchipped and Pass Ported before she goes to her new home.

We will not accept wire fencing of any kind other than electric but have no problem with Electric fencing, post & rail and natural hedging.
